Withdrawal of Manuscript

Journal of Schooling and Pesantren Studies (JSPS) is committed to maintaining ethical publishing standards and preserving the integrity of the scholarly publication process. Authors are therefore expected to submit manuscripts responsibly and avoid unnecessary manuscript withdrawal during the editorial and peer-review stages.

Manuscript Withdrawal Policy

Manuscripts submitted to JSPS are considered official submissions to the journal. Authors should ensure that manuscripts are carefully prepared and fully approved by all co-authors before submission.

Withdrawal requests are generally discouraged, particularly when manuscripts have already entered the peer-review or production stages, because substantial editorial and reviewer resources have been invested in the evaluation process.

Acceptable Reasons for Withdrawal

Manuscript withdrawal may be considered under limited and reasonable circumstances, including:

  • Significant errors identified in the manuscript prior to publication.
  • Ethical concerns discovered by the authors after submission.
  • Duplicate submission identified unintentionally by the authors.
  • Serious conflicts among co-authors regarding authorship or publication consent.
  • Legal or institutional restrictions affecting publication eligibility.

Withdrawal Procedure

Authors requesting manuscript withdrawal must submit a formal written request to the editorial office explaining the reason for withdrawal in detail.

The withdrawal request must be approved by all co-authors and submitted by the corresponding author. The editorial board will review the request before making a final decision.

Manuscripts are considered officially withdrawn only after the author receives formal confirmation from the editorial office.

Withdrawal During Peer Review

Authors are strongly discouraged from withdrawing manuscripts that are already undergoing peer review or editorial evaluation. Such withdrawals may disrupt the academic review process and waste valuable editorial and reviewer resources. The editorial board reserves the right to refuse unreasonable withdrawal requests submitted during advanced stages of review or publication processing.

Withdrawal After Acceptance

Withdrawal requests submitted after manuscript acceptance are only permitted under extraordinary circumstances and require strong justification supported by valid evidence.

If a manuscript has already entered copyediting, layout editing, or publication stages, the editorial board may reject the withdrawal request or apply additional publication ethics procedures in accordance with COPE guidelines.

Unethical Withdrawal

Unethical withdrawal practices include withdrawing manuscripts without valid reasons, failing to communicate with the editorial office, or submitting the same manuscript simultaneously to multiple journals.

In cases involving unethical withdrawal behavior, JSPS reserves the right to impose sanctions, including temporary restrictions on future submissions and notification to the authors’ institutions if necessary.

Through this policy, Journal of Schooling and Pesantren Studies (JSPS) seeks to preserve fairness, professionalism, publication ethics, and academic responsibility within the scholarly publishing process.
